The National Renaissance Museum is preparing an exhibition on the work of Antoine Caron, which is due to be presented to the public in 2023.

On this occasion, the Museum and its Society of Friends acquired two panels attributed to the entourage of Antoine Caron, reports the site The Art Tribune.

These two panels join in Écouen a work produced by the painter: a painted fireplace mantel from the Pavillon d'Abigaïl.

Antoine Caron (1521-1599), born in Beauvais, was a French master glassmaker, illustrator and painter, from the Fontainebleau school.

In addition, the National Renaissance Museum recently made two other acquisitions:

  • In 2017, an anonymous panel, after Antoine Caron, representing The Adoration of the Shepherds ;
  • In 2019, a fragment of a tapestry woven from drawings by Antoine Caron.

Finally, the Nantes Arts Museum will deposit two works from the school of Antoine Caron, Le Triomphe du Printemps and La femme adulterer.

As a reminder, the National Renaissance Museum is still closed.

More the castle grounds are open to the public from 8 a.m. to 18 p.m. (17 p.m. on weekends). Wearing a mask is compulsory within the domain.
