A rising occupancy rate thanks to business tourism and the resumption of air traffic

Recovery business tourism continues, with in particular the holding of several events generating overnight stays, such as the Première Vision Paris show in Villepinte, welcoming nearly 1 exhibitors. Likewise, we see a sustained increase in air traffic which is de facto contributing to the recovery of business tourism. Thus, in February 2022, Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport welcomed 2,9 million passengers, compared to 2,1 million passengers in February 2021. This translates into an increase which has a positive impact on the hotel occupancy rate. .

Hotel performance of hotel categories

The average prices recorded a significant increase compared to February 2021. Thus, this was €79,5, an increase of 13,6%. In a context of a combined increase in the average price and the occupancy rate, overall RevPAR increased by nearly 111,5% compared to February 2021.

With 59,5% filling rate, the hotel industry super economical (1* and 2*) displays the highest level, corresponding to the highest increase in the occupancy rate of the Greater Roissy. Indeed, there is an increase of 23,4 additional points compared to February 2021.

This upward trend is also continuing with hotels Opportunities (3*), which record an increase of 8,5 points compared to February 2021. This represented an average occupancy of 25%. Finally, the slots midrange (4 *) as well as tourist residences (5*) displayed a filling rate of 37,4%. Compared to February 2021, this represented a gain of 18,9 points.

Over the period from January to February 2022, the occupancy rate for hotels of all categories was 38,4%. This corresponded to an increase of 14,3 points compared to the same period in 2021. In addition, the average price recorded an increase of 13,3%, thus reaching a level of €78,7. As a result, the RevPAR stood at €30,2, an increase of 80,4% compared to the same period in 2021.

The three sectors of the Grand Roissy

In February 2022, the 3 sectors of Greater Roissy record a collective increase in their performance. The Airport sector displayed the highest occupancy rate, standing at 42,1% (+20,6 additional points compared to February 2021). The latter was followed by the Allée du Verger sector (+16,9 points) reaching a filling level of 39,7%. Finally, thee Villepinte/Paris Nord 2 sector came last with an occupancy rate of 30,3% i.e. 12,1 additional points compared to February 2021.

Regarding the average price, the Airport sector shows the highest level, i.e. €92,8, representing an increase of 14,1% compared to February 2021. The Villepinte/Paris Nord 2 sector recorded the largest increase, i.e. 17,6% more than in February 2021, reaching an average price of €67,3. Finally, the Allée du Verger sector recorded a smaller increase compared to February 2021 (+3,3%), i.e. an average price of €69,7.
