Atout France, the tourism development agency for destination France, is the classification body for hotel establishments. On April 1, new classification criteria came into force. We take stock!

In a context of tourist revival, the classification was modified in order to modernize the French hotel offer, always in a process of research of excellence. The sector will have to meet major challenges in the coming years with the rugby world cup 2023 but especially with 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Customers from all over the world wearing agrowing expectations will pass through the doors of our hotels. In order to provide a more efficient service, the criteria concerning digital technology and sustainable development have been increased.

Sustainable development

This year, the criteria related to sustainable development mandatory have increased from 3 to 12. In general, the sustainable development criteria doubled (from 13 to 27). Atout France says it: The new standard thus aims to encourage water and energy savings, better waste management, recycling, the use of short circuits, particularly in catering, awareness of the clientèle or even the training of hotel staff…
The integration of these new criteria into the classification system ratifies practices that are already widespread in the hotel industry, but also encourages their extension. »

Digital and the evolution of spaces

Another workhorse of Atout France: the expansion of digital actions. Thereby : " the generalization of compulsory Wi-Fi, dematerialized check-in, the provision via a QR-code of the welcome booklet, tourist brochures or even daily newspapers in digital version contribute to making the customer journey easier and agreeable“. These digital developments are therefore mainly aimed at improve the customer journey.

Finally, the changes in the ranking concern the mchanges in the use of hotel spaces. Indeed, remote working practices have a direct impact on the layout of hotel spaces. We value much more coworking spaces, modular meeting rooms and the integration of teleworking spaces in the rooms. The new classification also promotes the pooling of equipment (swimming pools, spas, etc.)

Grand Roissy hotels

38 Grand Roissy hotels out of 42 are classified. That is more than 90% of the hotel park. This is 3% more than the French average.

  • 32 hotels in Roissy-en-France
  • 5 hotels in Le Mesnil-Amelot
