In recent months, a giant eye 400 meters long has appeared in the Ile-de-France landscape.
The Eye of Heaven
Just 30 minutes from Paris, a giant eye appeared in Villeneuve-sous-Dammartin. If your plane arrives towardsParis Charles de Gaulle airport, you will be able to see this immense eye staring at the sky. This work of land art was created by architect and urban planner Antoine Grumbach. This 400 meter long geoglyph actually represents part of a huge cultural and environmental project.
This eye sits on the largest site for the recovery of excavated earth in Île-de-France, belonging to ECT. ECT is a company specializing in the rehabilitation of land used for construction sites. The overall project is called “ The Eyes of Heaven » and will be composed of two large open eyes, each 400 meters long. This first eye, in the west, was finished in March 2023 and the second should be finished in 2025. This project is inspired by the mysterious geoglyphs discovered all over the world. Tree plantations are used here to create the outline of the eyes.
