The Roissy Eastern Bypass, including theA104 and the Rd212, will open on November 15, providing new access to the airport and improving mobility, while respecting the environment.

New Airport Access

After four years of work, the Eastern Bypass of Roissy (Cer), including the A104 motorway and the departmental road 212 (Rd212), was inaugurated on October 27 last. This new infrastructure of 9 km for the A104 and 7 km for the Rd212 provides additional access to theParis Charles de Gaulle airport from the East. The costs were distributed between different actors: the State finances to the tune of 80,5 million euros, the Île-de-France region covers 85,3 million euros, the Val-d'Oise department with 5,5 million euros and the Roissy – Pays-de-France agglomeration for 2 million euros.

The opening of these lanes will help reduce traffic congestion by diverting a third of traffic, with around 60 vehicles expected each day. This project is essential for improve mobility residents of the region.

Respect the environment

The Cer project represents an investment of 240 million, financed by the State, the Île-de-France region, the Val-d'Oise department, and the agglomeration Roissy – Pays-de-France. The authorities also took into account the aspect environmental minimizing the impact on protected areas, covering 95 hectares.

To carry out this project, environmental authorization was obtained due to its impact on the environment. The authorization includes 32 environmental measures, such as the restoration of 78 hectares of habitats, the creation of a compensation zone for wooded areas, a wetland, and compensation areas for yellow oedecne, a protected species.

Measures have been taken to reduce the environmental impact, in particular by partially reusing existing routes, monitoring compliance with environmental provisions, adapting the work schedule to preserve local species, and monitoring animal species for 30 years. Annual reports are presented to environmental authorities and industry associations.

Full service on November 15

Thus, the A104 has been open since this Tuesday October 31 2023 in the outward direction, between Compans and the A1. Since the 9th November, the road will be accessible in the interior direction, from the A1 towards Compans; the A1 interchange ramps will also be open. Access to the remaining ramps is scheduled at November 15, 2023. The region is already considering an additional plan to improve its road network in the coming months.
