Between January and August 2023, the Paris Île-de-France destination welcomed 22,2 million hotel arrivals, marking a significant increase of 12,8% compared to the previous year. However, these figures remain below 2019 levels, with a decrease of 5,3%. During the summer period from June to August, although the number of hotel arrivals has increased by 5,9% compared to 2022, a slight reduction of 3,3% compared to 2019 was recorded.
Rugby World Cup boosts tourism
The holding of the Rugby World Cup during the two months was a major driver for tourism, showing a notable increase of 7% compared to the same period of 2022. This growth was fueled largely by the dynamic presence of international customers, with a remarkable increase in 10%.
Positive outlook for the end of the year
The forecasts for the end of 2023 are promising, with hotel reservations up 9,9% for the month of November and 0,5% for December compared to the previous year. Airline reservations follow the same trend with significant increases of 14,4% in November and 3,7% in December compared to 2022. However, although these figures are encouraging, they remain below pre-crisis levels, with a decrease of 13,2% compared to the same period in 2019.
Dynamism confirmed for the start of 2024
Forecasts for the start of 2024 confirm the dynamism observed in 2023. Airline reservations anticipate notable growth of 16,3% from January to March compared to the same period in 2023 and 7,8% compared to the same period before the crisis. These prospects underline the resilience of the tourism sector in Île-de-France despite persistent challenges.
