The Cinéma Intercommunal de l'Ysieux, a true cinematographic institution in Fosses, is preparing to experience a major transformation in 2024. Built in 1986, this single-screen neighborhood cinema will close its doors on Sunday February 25, 2024 to undergo a metamorphosis that will last 18 months, at the end of which the public will be able to discover brand new equipment.
An ambitious project under the leadership of Roissy Pays de France
The demolition and reconstruction of this cinema, placed under the project management of Roissy Pays de France, are entrusted to the Lille architectural firm HBAAT. This renowned firm, to which we already owe the renovation of the Palais Guimet in Lyon and the cultural and cinematographic center of Marcq-en-Baroeul (winner of the 2021 Grand Prix d'architecture), is responsible for leading this ambitious project.
The future cinema: a place of innovation and conviviality
The new cinema, once completed, will proudly display two projection rooms 157 and 73 seats, spread over two levels. The improvements don't stop there: a terrace allowing outdoor screenings, a more welcoming reception area, a mediation room dedicated to working with groups, particularly young audiences, as well as offices and latest generation technical installations are on the program.
This new intercommunal equipment will become a real driving force of the urban area's cultural policy, promoting the development of actions around image and cinema.
Transitional program: screenings at the Espace Germinal and the Espace Culturel Lucien Jean
While waiting for the reopening of the renovated cinema, moviegoers will be able to enjoy screenings at the Espace Germinal in Fosses, as well as more occasionally at the Espace Culturel Lucien Jean in Marly-la-Ville, on weekends and during School holidays.
A festive farewell and a meeting in 2025
Before closing its doors for the transformation, the cinema organizes a festive afternoon Sunday, March 3, 2024. In the program : games, visits, musical blind-test and even the sale of armchairs, all accompanied by a gourmet aperitif.
