Explore the use of bicycles around Paris-CDG airport: between existing paths, future projects and field advice, discover how cycle tourism or home-work mobility is developing around Roissy, with an eye on the upcoming developments around the large multimodal station "CDG & Vous".
🚲 Cycling context around CDG

The regional project Île-de-France Bicycle Network (VIF), formerly RER-V, includes the line V2 connecting Vélizy-Villacoublay to Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. This network provides for the gradual opening of approximately 750 km of slopes by 2030, financed to the tune of 300 million euros to modernize and secure bicycle mobility in Île-de-France.
To date, the V2 line is estimated to be approximately 55% completion, with connections already in place to link CDG to certain surrounding towns.
🚴♀️ Existing runways around the airport
There’s nothing quite like a small cycle path runs along the south side of the airport area, separated from the traffic lanes by fences. Although narrow, it offers a quality surface and a calm atmosphere appreciated by local users.
This section is generally used by cycle tourists or people travelling between communes (Sevran, Claye-Souilly) via small loops of 20 to 50 km including sections along the Canal de l'Ourcq.
🔧 Upcoming cycling projects
The ADP Group is preparing a CDG bike map to encourage the use of bicycles by employees and nearby residents. Inspired by the positive reception of the Orly 2030 plan, where approximately 6 km of secure trails are already in service and 8 km planned by 2030, the CDG project aims for similar developments around the multimodal hub.
Future work should include:
- of the continuous tracks to the terminals and the multimodal station,
- of the secure bicycle parking,
- potentially showers, Véligo lockers, and self-service bicycles for staff.
Internal developments related to the future station CDG & You could include modular and phased cycle connections to activity areas surrounding the airport

🌱 Challenges and benefits of cycling development around CDG
Sustainable and carbon neutral mobility: a lever to reduce emissions linked to road access, like the Orly plan (target of zero net ground emissions by 2030).
Reducing congestion in land transport: promoting cycling among employees and local residents reduces motorized travel.
Local quality of life: opening up to rural and green areas around Roissy, better connected by bicycle.
