We set off to explore The Museum Factory in Gonesse (95), a space that explores the history of education and health in Île-de-France.
The history of the Factory

A new Museum of History and Society will open in Gonesse in 2029. The idea is to create a museum bringing together collections around education and health, two essential themes for understanding our society.
In the meantime, The Museum Factory welcomes you in the same building to discover collections from Île-de-France offered by former professors and collectors (approximately 50,000 objects and documents). It traces the history of education in the region. from the 19th century to todayThis is the second largest collection after Rouen.
A museum for everyone

This museum is a goldmine of information about education and healthFor example, you will be able to: answer quizzes, write your opinion on different subjects… The team's wish is that the collections become tools for you to understand and participate in order to have your own opinion, based on historical facts.
The museum aims to be open to everyoneStéphanie Magalhaes, Director of La Fabrique du musée, explains that some people have never set foot in a museum for fear of not feeling comfortable. She encourages these people, especially children, not to be afraid to come and discover the museum.
Some topics to explore:
- How to build an exhibition
- Gender equality in schools
- Gender-neutral playgrounds and toys
- The place of sexuality education in schools
- Mental health: "A child must grow up healthy. This doesn't just mean physical health, but also mental health, because many children today are victims of bullying or are in distress." (Stéphanie Magalhaes)
The reserve area

In the storage area, staff can show you how they take care of the collections: special crates, suitable packaging… so that they may be passed down from generation to generation.
"A museum is not just exhibition halls. We know the great museums like the Louvre where we see very beautiful rooms, but a museum also includes storage spaces and reserves."
Stéphanie Magalhaes, Director of La Fabrique du musée.
The future museum
The future museum will be integrated into the hospital-hospice of 1841The aim is for the museum to also be a place of healing. The visitor experience will be developed in collaboration with the hospital's patients. suitable for people with specific needs (for example, children who are in child psychiatry).
"It must be a welcoming place in the sense that we will take care of the public when they enter and throughout the entire visit."
Stéphanie Magalhaes, Director of La Fabrique du musée.
