Behind the stars

Long perceived as a place of myths, religion and legends, our understanding of the cosmos radically changed during the 20th century, under the impetus of a conquest of space for which rockets and satellites were the vehicles. From the first step on the Moon to the rise of space tourism, it only took a few decades for space to become the new terrain of very terrestrial realities.

Combining artistic imagination, techno-scientific imagery and popular culture, Behind the Stars updates the relativity of our cosmological system. Working with space as a material or as a horizon, the artists invite us to project ourselves sensibly into the sky, to question the necessity and modalities of spatial exploration. In this sense, the exhibition constitutes an invitation to consider space no longer as a border to be conquered, but as a common territory.
