Focus Festival – Exhibition “The Chatelain Nurseries”
From 05 May 2026 to 06 June 2026
French
Through his lens, Geoffroy Mathieu invites you to discover the Chatelain Nurseries, a regional reference in arboriculture, with its 100 hectares of production and its 5000m² garden center.
This exhibition is the result of a photographic commission on agriculture entrusted by the Roissy Pays de France conurbation to photographer Geoffroy Mathieu. Between 2021 and 2022, he traveled throughout the Plaine de France region, focusing on seven agricultural sites to create a visual portrait of the conurbation's territory through its landscapes and production processes, from farming to distribution. He titled his photographic series "New Ruralities."
This exhibition focuses on one of the seven agricultural sites explored by Geoffroy Mathieu. With its 100 hectares of production and its 5000 m² garden center in Le Thillay, the Chatelain Nurseries are a regional leader in arboriculture. Genuine expertise and unique techniques are revealed through Geoffroy Mathieu's lens and, during two meetings, through the passionate words of manager Laurent Chatelain.

"A tree stands there, in the middle of the city. Alone. One morning, human time stops. No more cars, no more planes, no more roaring engines. Silence... Silence? Open your ears wide and listen. The rabbits, the frog, the owl, the hen's egg, the lizard, and even the bear! They all poke their heads out, and each one tells their own little story. As if by magic, that morning, the tree is no longer alone."

Photographer Matthias Crépel, equipped with his recorder and camera, gave residents the opportunity to talk about their roots, their towns, and how they experience them daily.
