A few kilometers north of Paris are 2 villages of painters to visit absolutely.
These places have inspired artists who have had a lasting influence on world art.
Here is the program for the day to discover Ecouen and Auvers-sur-Oise.
Half-day guided tour: the village of Ecouen has retained its picturesque little streets. In the XNUMXth century, artists set up their workshops in the beautiful houses of the old center, under the Château. The commented walk follows an illustrated route of reproductions of paintings through the streets that bear the names of these now little-known “genre” painters. This colony of artists constituted there a creative breeding ground and an emulation which marked its time and still translates the attraction for the scenes of the daily life.
Lunch in the Italian restaurant Il Maestro located in the middle of a park, in a former residence of painters. The bistronomic menu will delight gourmets: starter, hot dish, dessert, wine and coffee.
Visit of Auvers in ½ day, in 2 parts:
- Walk with a guide, on foot, in the village. With its pretty alleys and country lanes following in the footsteps of landscape painters, including Vincent Van Gogh, one of the most famous of them. Reproductions of paintings have been installed along a pleasant route.
- Then go to the Château d'Auvers (transfer on foot or by coach 300 m from the town centre) to visit the route created in the rooms of the Château.
Retracing the history of the painting movement known as "Impressionism", an original scenography (projections, reconstructions of XNUMXth century decorations, etc.) traces the context, characteristics and influences of this movement on international art.
Options: snack at the Château, presentation and tasting of local products.
