Fruit of the association between Elizabethan Consort Songs and works of the British composer Michael Nyman, well known for his film scores (La Leçon de Piano, Propero's Books, etc.), this concert strives to highlight, beyond all temporality, the obvious artistic bridge between Renaissance music and contemporary English music.

Testifying to a clever mix of genres, this program demonstrates the strength of the composer and the ensemble in taking works out of their respective eras to offer a meditation on time and death. Thus, there is no opposition between the two repertoires, but on the contrary, a proximity, a filiation and even the perpetuation of a tradition of writing and aesthetics.

From one century to the next, we feel the force of a testimony projected by the tone of the countertenor, the intensity of the consort of viols da gamba which carries the flight, and finally a magic which takes place: the paradoxical expression of the voice which is both the only one and the sixth among the viols.
